Con Dao Islands in Vietnam - something quite special Con Dao Islands in Vietnam once known as ‘Poulo Condor’ and long considered a Southeast Asian ‘Devil's Island.Con Dao was a prison island as the French began to use and then used by the South Vietnamese until 1975. The island vas much feared among many Vietnamese. Previously, the only way to get here vas to use old boats that took approximately 14-15 hours and it was sometimes a rather ruff trip. It was also possible during a period to fly out with old Russian helicopters. Today, it is much easier, there are daily flights between Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon and Con Dao Once on the island you can enjoy around twenty beautiful beaches and there is a pleasant climate. It is about 28 degrees Celsius all year round. Moving in from the coast you will find high mountains wrapped in a dense green jungle, and here they have created the nature reserve. National Park Headquarters will you find on the eastern side of the island in the small town of Con Son Town. On Con Dao there are two climate seasons, the "rainy season" and the "dry season". The rainy season lasts from April to November, but it is not as bad as it sounds. In the middle of this season, June, July and August it rains periodically every day, but usually only very short showers, then the sun will shine again. The dry season runs between December and March, and then you will have the sun almost every day.
